Maggie:
Maybe a little too much. Children, Santa has a BIG sweet tooth. Maybe some of you could leave out some nutritious
snacks like yogurt or fruit. And make sure the milk is low-fat. There's nothing worse on Christmas Eve than Santa with a tummy
ache!
Santa:
Unless it's a team of grouchy reindeer, which they may be if you leave something for me and nothing for them. They
like carrots, apples and those little sacks of reindeer food. Rudolph is especially fond of candy canes. Sometimes kids
leave out some very special treats. Click "NEXT PAGE" to find out what they are!
Maggie:
Sometimes children leave notes or pictures for us, too, which are nice to read, look at, and put in our big gallery of children's
art.
Santa:
Yes, now about that snack. As you know, I'm rather fond of cookies and milk. Don't forget the milk, because I like
to dunk my cookies in the milk-- it makes them taste even better. All cookies are good, but chocolate chip is a great one to
leave. Why? Because I LIKE THEM!
Santa:
On Christmas Eve I have a lot of things to do, and I'm moving pretty fast. There are a number of things you can do to
make my stop at your home more enjoyable.
Maggie:
One thing that helps a lot is if you get your letters to us as soon as possible. If we find out at the last minute that
you want a dolly with red hair, we may only have dollies with black hair left. And on Christmas Eve itself be sure to brush
your teeth and go to bed when mom and dad say to.
Santa:
They are more likely to know when
I'm coming by and it's important that you be asleep and not peeking. The reindeer are
very shy and if we are coming in for a landing on your roof or lawn, and they see you peeking out the window, they may just take off
again, and I'll have a hard time getting them to come back for another try.
And before you go to bed, if you have a fireplace
or chimney, be sure to tell mom and dad to "PUT THE FIRE OUT!" That makes things go a lot easier, and I won't burn my..... boots.
Maggie:
Santa sure is surprised when that happens! If you don't have a chimney or fireplace, get mom or dad's help-- be sure to get
their help-- and take a twig off the Christmas tree, or a piece of holly, and put it up over the door or window you'd like him to
come in by.
Santa:
Also, if you have any puppies or kittens at your house, tell them I'm coming by so they won't be scared. Now, on Christmas
Eve, I work pretty hard, and sometimes I get a little hungry. I sure do appreciate it when you leave out a little snack.
Be sure to put the fire out!
