Some children don't realize that there are a number of ways they can give to their families, friends and everybody that don't necessarily
involve buying a present. Here are some of our favorite ones:
Make a picture, painting, sculpture, or work of art
for someone. We have a wonderful gallery of children's art at the North Pole.
Make somebody cookies-- especially
ones with chocolate in them!
Make friends with someone who needs one.
Help people and animals who are in trouble.
There are a lot of good groups set up to do this like UNICEF, Habitat for Humanity, Boy and Girl Scouts, church groups, and others.
Join one and help out.
Write someone a poem, tell them a story, act out a play for them, or do some magic. Ho-Ho!
Give
people smiles, waves, hugs, and greetings whether they need them or not. These are all free and, most of the time, they'll give
you one back.
During the holiday season, we tend to think about giving and those less fortunate whether the holiday is Thanksgiving,
Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or New Year's. However, the best gifts, like those we've suggested, are those that come from the heart
and represent a piece of you. And guess what-- you can do them every day of the year-- you don't have to wait for the holidays!
Give
to someone today, it will feel great, and put a smile on your face and in your heart!
